2011 STANTON RUN CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Children's Christmas Party on December 18, 2011 was great!  The kids really enjoyed seeing Santa Claus and taking pictures with him.  Santa gave each child a talk, bag of goodies, & a coloring book.  Santa made some of the adults cry to see the children talking to Santa so seriously.  The kids were so excited.  The kids also had activity tables to make reindeers, write letters to Santa, and other activites. They were also treated to cupcakes, cookies and juices. Of course this party would not have been a success without the volunteers that gave their time, effort, work, and donations.  We would like to give a BIG shoutout to the following residents for helping out making this event a success:
Eva Villalobos & Family, Yolanda Ayala & Family, Juan Velazquez, Heidi Cupstid, David Estrada, Kim McCullough, Joe Castellano, Yolie Castellano, Stanton Run HOA.  Each one of these persons went way beyond helping out.  If you would like to view pictures of this party, please go to PHOTO ALBUM (on the left side of your screen), CLICK ON 2011 STANTON RUN CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY-PART ONE.  Once you see those photos, there are more. GO TO 2011 STANTON RUN CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY-PART TWO. There were so many pictures we had to divide them into two albums.  Again, thanks to ALL that participated.  We look forward to a better party for 2012.

they will be removed the same day.
Please read the following article from the post office.
Section 1725 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code prohibits placing

may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage,
including items or matter placed upon, supported by, attached to,
hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle. . Mail able matter
not bearing postage found in or on private mail receptacles

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR RESIDENTS

It just came out on KENS news today, June 29, 2011 that
there have been numerous break in on cars in the 1604 &
Bandera area. The break ins have been at the Kohls, Spectrum,
& Golds Gyms parking lots. Apparently the break ins have been
overwhelming. The thieves are looking for cars that have
anything in the cars like bags, purses, etc. Please do not leave
ANYTHING in planes site, not even a piece of paper. If they are
breaking in cars at these merchants, they could start breaking in
cars at H.E.B. and other merchants around this area. BE CAREFUL !!!

NEW FENCE

The HOA was finally able to hire a contractor after many bids.
It didn't take the contractor much time to take down the old
fence, put up the new fence, and haul away all the trash.
The fence looks nice. Just a thought to our residents.
Doesn't this make you want to put up a new fence of your own?
A new fence makes you home look so different. I think the
HOA did a good job in this fence project. Next project,
the Marquee in front of the community. That is in the
works right now.

THANKS.........to Joe Castellano for repainting the Neighborhood
Watch sign, getting a pole, mounting the Neighborhood Watch sign
and the National Nigh Out Award sign on the pole, and then mounting
the signs in the ground in front of the subdivision. Thanks also to
David Estrada and Eric Robertson for helping Joe mount the pole
in the ground.

In the Content Points, there is a section called "Crime Watch."  If you click on this you will see incidents of crimes or issues that have happened in our community. These incidents affect our community and unless they are not documented, our commuity is clueless of what is going on. We are asking that you document
anything that you see or know that has happened.  This helps us report issues to the Bexar County Sheriffs that patrol our area.  You will be seeing them more and more.  If you see anything suspicious, please call 911 right away.  Get a license plate number.  Get a description of the person involved.  But most of all, go into the website, go into Crime Watch, and document what happened.  Our community needs to know so that we can take care of each other.

SAFETY COMMITTEE UPDATE

by
Jose Castellano

jcastellano@satx.rr.com

We are a community of automobile and truck lovers! We have vehicles to carry
the kids to activities, to commute to work, and pleasure. Maybe a truck to
haul items, and maybe one or two cars for the grown children…….The garage
stores many items, but not vehicles owned by a household. Before we know it,
the streets are crowded.

However, the Stanton Run HOA is concerned with land use (zoning) and safety
that deal with the safety of vehicles that park everyday on the street. This can
cause the following problems:

1.)  Drivers' Visibility
2.)  Children’s Safety; riding their bikes, skateboards, etc.
3.)  Pet Safety
4.)  Prevents school buses easy access at pick up point for school children,
which includes blind spots for bus drivers.
5.)  Prevents emergency vehicles from having clear movement and access
to residential homes and fire hydrants.
6.)  Prevents access to entire street sweeping during the monthly street
sweeping by Bexar County
7.)  Prevents Police from having a clear view of properties for criminal activity.
8.)  Hides the presence of abandoned /inoperable vehicles
9.)  Harms neighborhood appearance and creates blight
10.)  Prevents complete Trash Collection
11.)  Prevents residents from backing out from their driveways

Each house in our community has a two car garage and a driveway that
accommodates 2 to 4 vehicles. There really is no need for cars to be parked
on the streets, unless it for a temporary period. There are more vehicles
parked on the streets than there are in the driveways. This leads us to believe
that there are more and more multi-family dwellings in the community.

The Safety Committee is also looking into vehicles speeding in the community.
There seems to be a speeding problem on Moonlit Glade and Legend Trail.
A survey has been completed to see if we could have speed bumps
installed, but the Infrastructure Department did not approve it. We are now
researching to see if more STOP signs can be installed at certain intersections
within the community. If you observe a speeding vehicle, write down the
license plate number, and description of the vehicle, then call 911 and ask for
the Bexar County Sheriff Department. The speeding incidents seem to be
occurring shortly after school hours when young drivers are dropping off their
school friends.

Where Does The HOA Money Go?

Texas law establishes that home owner associations collect dues from members (residents) for the purpose of maintaining the community. What does maintaining
mean? It means fulfilling the HOA's obligation to help protect property values, keep
the common areas in good order, and to keep the community a safe place to live.

We have put the HOA check book online. Just click here to see the actual expenses
for 2009 and where every dollar is spent. Residents who have participated in meetings already have a good understanding of this and some have provided feedback that has influenced some of the expenses.

The board has been making all of the HOA business tranparent to residents. As we
fulfill our duty to protect residential property values and help maintain a safe place
to live, we are also providing residents the information they need to be informed
and to take a greater interest in the community.

This is your association. Not only does the HOA have a duty to you as a resident,
but some residents feel a duty to support the HOA and give back to the community.
Consider volunteering for an existing committee or chartering a new one. Think
about how your time and talent can make Stanton Run a better place to live. We
get things done when everyone helps make things happen. To those of you who
have been caring and generous with your time, talent, and resources the HOA
expresses its gratitude.
